Banned Books Discussion with NWACC Professor Brody Parrish Craig
Date: Oct. 28
Time: 1 PM
Location: Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Bentonville.
Cost: FREE
About: Author and NWACC English Professor Brody Parrish Craig (they/them) will analyze contemporary legislation to ban books in the United States as well as counter movements and collective action to protect artistic freedom and education within and outside Arkansas.
Using the 1950’s trial against “Howl,” a poem by Allen Ginsberg as an anchor, we will look back on the idea of “obscenity” across generations and grapple with the larger picture of today’s book bans within U.S. culture and society.
