Employee Relations


NWACC's Office of Human Resources develops policies and provides guidance to employees regarding a wide range of employment issues.

Our goal is to promote positive relations and preserve a productive and ethical work environment where all individuals can succeed and best serve our students. Further employee relations information can be found on myNWACC.

We also recognize the importance of a healthy balance between one's work and life and are dedicated to supporting employees throughout transitions within their careers at NWACC and personal life.

  • Area Agency on Aging: a non-profit organization committed to enhancing the lives of the Northwest Arkansas senior community.

  • Schmieding Center for Senior Health and Education: The center's mission is to improve quality of life for adults in the second half of life with the provision of personalized programs of education, services and healthcare for all stages of aging.

  • Caregiver Action Network: A non-profit organization providing education, peer support, and resources to family caregivers across the country, free of charge.

NorthWest Arkansas Community College provides private lactation/nursing space at all campus locations. Detailed information is provided below. You can contact the Human Resources Department (hrhelp@nwacc.edu) or Title IX Coordinator (titleix@nwacc.edu) for issues or more information.

Bentonville Main Campus

Burns Hall (BH) - NWACC has designated Room 1210 in Burns Hall for the purpose of employee and/or student lactation/breastfeeding. To use the designated room, you must reserve the room by contacting 479-619-3155 or emailing hrhelp@nwacc.edu. This room may not be reserved for any other purpose.

Center for Health Professions (CHP) – NWACC has designated Room 3040, 3rd Floor CHP, for the purpose of employee and/or student lactation/breastfeeding. To use the designated room, you must reserve the room by contacting Darcy Castaneda at 479-619-3122 or by emailing: dcastaneda3@nwacc.edu or by visiting Room 2051 in the Center for Health Professions to request the room key. This room may not be reserved for any other purpose.

 

NWACC - Washington County (WC)

NWACC has a lactation/nursing pod at WC. The lactation pod is located in the west wing hallway on the 2nd floor, in room WC 203, and is designed to be used for the purpose of employee and/or student lactation/breastfeeding. There is no reservation process for this room and it is first come, first serve. Please be respectful of others who may also need to use this space. This pod may not be used for any other purpose.

 

Brightwater: A Center for the Study of Food (BW)

Brightwater has a lactation/nursing pod located inside its facility. The pod is located in the hallway across from Room 132 and Room 130 (Production Kitchen), and is designed to be used for the purpose of employee and/or student lactation/breastfeeding. There is no reservation process for this room and it is first come, first serve. Please be respectful of others who may also need to use this space. This pod may not be used for any other purpose.

Leave Time:

Annual Leave

  • Full-time classified staff initially earn 3.69 hours of annual leave bi-weekly (accrual increases over time). Full-time administrative initially earn 6.16 hours of annual leave bi-weekly.
  • A maximum of 240 hours may be accrued for both classified and administrative employees.

Sick Leave:

  • Eligible full-time employees accrue 3.69 sick leave hours bi- weekly. You may use sick leave when you must be absent from work due to illness or injury or to keep a doctor's appointment. You may also use sick leave when a member of your immediate family is seriously ill or for bereavement.
  • A maximum of 960 hours may be carried over to a new calendar year.

Holidays:

  • The paid holidays usually include: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King's Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the Friday following Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. President's/ Daisy Gatson Bates Day, Veterans Day, and the employee's birthday are observed during the Christmas Holiday.
  • NWACC ordinarily closes for the entire week between Christmas and New Year's Day. One to three days of annual leave will be charged for any days during that period not covered by regular holidays or declared an additional holiday by the Governor.

Catastrophic Leave:

  • Eligible employees who have a catastrophic illness or who need to care for an immediate family member with a catastrophic illness may apply for paid leave when their own leave has been exhausted.
